Pinecrest sewer extension on planning agenda with Wilson Twp.

A joint meeting with the Winona County Planning Commission and Wilson Township Board is scheduled for Thursday, June 16, at 6 p.m. at the County Government Center on Main Street.

The item was added to the agenda so that the two governing bodies can review plans from the city of Winona to extend sewer and water pipes to service several homes in the Pinecrest Subdivision. Four property owners have requested annexation into the city, who will then each pay $10,000 toward the $270,000 cost of the project.

As part of the 2005 Orderly Annexation Agreement, the city must obtain permission from both the County Planning Commission and Wilson Township Board in order to use township right-of-way to extend the pipes beyond current city limits.

The project had been pulled from the Winona City Council agenda on June 6 because it had not yet received the needed approval for use of the right-of-way.

The Winona County Planning Commission is also slated to hold a public hearing on a new draft zoning ordinance chapter 12 regulating wind and other renewable energy systems. Additionally, the commission will consider amending a Conditional Use Permit for a Gundersen Lutheran wind energy project near Lewiston. The applicants would like to construct two 462-foot wind turbines at the site, rather than three 404-foot turbines it was previously approved to construct.
