Wind turbine opponents' signs gone with the wind

By Samantha Turner, North Kingstown Patch, northkingstown.patch.com 9 June 2011

Just days before a pivotal North Kingstown Planning Commission meeting concerning a controversial wind turbine, a number of signs erected by opponents of said turbine were discovered missing.

According to police reports, 16 of the 20 signs created by No Residential Wind NK – a group of North Kingstown residents “seeking to educate the public” about wind turbines – were found missing on June 4. The missing signs were scattered throughout town, including signs on Boston Neck Road, Lafayette Road, West Allenton Road, Old Baptist Road, Plain Road and Quaker Lane.

Jeff Zucchi, who filed the report with the North Kingstown Police Department, told police he was not sure who may have taken the signs. Neither Zucchi nor the other residents who displayed the signs on their lawns saw any suspicious activity. The missing signs were valued at a total of $170.
