Wind power company meets resistance from Marshall County residents

A wind power company looking to set up shop in Marshall County is taking some flack from some residents.

Next-Era Energy has been testing some farms in the county since last year to see if they are suitable for wind turbines.

They eventually plan on investing $18 million in Marshall and Fulton Counties to create wind farms.

On Thursday night, they held a meeting in Argos to update the public on the project, and a handful of residents voiced concerns.

David Hulthen, who travels around speaking against the wind farms, says, “We’ve heard the story of how great they are for economics and landowners and that type of thing, which a lot of that stuff is true, but there’s another side of the story that’s what we’re here to do. Tell what the other side of the story is.”

Next-Era officials are also talking to officials and land owners about tax income and jobs that would come with a wind farm.
