Blowing the changes

Plans for a 77 metre high wind turbine in Bridgend have sparked fear among residents that it will blight the West Lothian landscape.

Meetings have taken place over the last week with residents at Bridgend, Champfleurie, Ochiltree and Kingscavil, submitting objections to the plans.

Rhona Irving who lives at Ochiltree Steadings said: “It’s huge – it will affect our views and we have concerns about noise and shadow flicker.

“All of us are affected as it will be seen for miles around – from the Forth Road Bridge and from Linlithgow Palace. The application says there is no need for a full environmental assessment but what about the local animal and bird life?”

The Journal and Gazette reported on May 20 that plans from Intelligent Land Investments had been lodged with the council for a turbine lasting up to 25 years with up to 500kW capacity, on land close to Bridgend Farm.

For more on this see the Journal and Gazette out on Friday, June 10.
