Did group break into wind farm?

North Devon Journal, www.thisisnorthdevon.co.uk 9 June 2011

A group of youths are believed to have trespassed onto the Fullabrook Wind Farm complex soon after the first tower was completed.

The group is said to have got into the tower near West Down in April, via an open door to the stairwell and then proceeded to climb to the top.

Photographic evidence of the group at the top is said to exist on the Facebook website.

The company behind the wind farm’s construction, ESB Wind Developments has confirmed the rumours but has not seen any evidence.

Sean Farrell, Project Director for ESB, which owns Devon Wind Power, said: “We take the safety and security of the general public, and our staff and contractors very seriously.

“We are aware of rumours that intruders gained access to one of the turbine towers but have seen no evidence to substantiate these claims.

“We believe that adequate security measures are in place at Fullabrook Wind Farm to prevent unauthorised access to the turbines.”
