Banks Renewables launch appeal

Credit:  No to Wolds Wind Farm Group, www.southdalewindfarm.co.uk 6 June 2011 ~~

It’s Official, Banks Renewables have now appealed the refusal decision on the Met Mast and it has been accepted by the Planning Inspectorate.

It would seem that the message
“No Thanks Mr Banks”
has been misheard by the developer.

Banks Renewables website states that they “develop all our sites in close consultation with the local community”, well the consultation was done, the Parish Councils said “NO”, the Borough Council said “NO” and a Large Percentage of the Local Population said “NO” and since this refusal The Campaign for Rural England has backed the No to Wolds Wind Farm Group 100%, just what don’t they understand.

The Government is in the process of setting up the Localism Bill to give local communities more say over what happens in their areas. However as councils and residents we have already said that we do not want this development here, this will not change the appeals process under the bill, so is “Localism” becoming an empty word.

The Yorkshire and Humber Plan, RSS to 2026 – Policy ENV9: Historic Environment clearly shows that The Yorkshire Wolds is a Prehistoric Landscape that should be conserved and enhanced to reinforce the distinctiveness as do the local Scarborough Policies E1, E27, and E35; however it would seem that the developer on this application fails to recognise the sensitivity of this beautiful area.

The fights back on, we will be keeping you up to date via this website and our Facebook and Twitter pages and we are sure that you will all see us out and about.

Here at No to Wolds Wind Farm Group we love our landscape and will do everything possible to protect it for the enjoyment of many generations to come.

The Appeal will be dealt with under the Written Representations Procedure.
