Pine will try again to sell wind turbine

Pine will try again to sell its wind turbine.

Supervisors on Monday rejected the four bids they received for the purchase of the turbine because they were not high enough. Officials would not say how much they wanted to receive, because they intend to rebid the item.

The township installed the 120-foot-high wind turbine in the community park in 2005. Supervisors voted in January to sell it, saying it did not generate enough electricity because of the area’s lack of wind.

Pine received a $62,500 grant from the state Department of Environmental Protection’s Energy Harvest Program to cover half of the cost. The township included the other $62,500 in its 2005 budget.
