Green Energy Act criticized

An Independent Energy and Environmental Advisor believes introducing the Green Energy Act was a mistake.
Speaking at a Community Forum in Goderich recently Tom Adams tells us the Provincial Legislation has taken away the rights and freedoms of rural Ontario residents.
Adams calls it an economic disaster created by insiders and interest groups.
Adams says there is a future for green projects, but forcing the Green Energy Act on Ontario is not the answer.
He calls the legislation unbalanced.
Adams notes wind turbines cause many major concerns.
He says the power output that comes from wind turbines is acceptable to the grid in small amounts.
He tells us problems attributed to the output multiply as the market for wind energy grows.
Adams notes Ontario used to buy wind power for 8 to 9 cents a kilowatt hour, and now he says it’s gone up 50 percent in the past few years to 13 and a half cents.
Adams suggests the provincial government go back to the drawing board.
He says Consumer protection must have higher priority.
Adams suggests Natural gas could be a short term solution because of its low cost.
He says for the longer term there needs to be a serious conversation about other energy sources.
He says customers are being overcharged for wind energy.
Adams adds if wind power has any future costs must be brought under control.
