Wind turbines plan

Leicester Mercury, www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk 2 June 2011

A farmer wants to put two large wind turbines up on his farm.

Paul Hilyer wants to build the 71m structures at Park House Farm, Leicester Lane, Desford.

A 2,000-name petition has been collected against the idea.

Mr Hilyer was unavailable to comment. His agents said: “The client is keen to make a contribution to offsetting his and the community’s carbon emissions and to maintain the sustainability of the farm.”

The chairman of Desford Parish Council, Mike Fryer, said the council’s planning committee would be meeting the owner and his agent on the site on June 8.

The planning application is being decided by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council.

If granted, the turbines would be built two miles from another site where an energy company is seeking to place three 125m turbines, at Stocks House Farm, Peckleton.
