Wind turbines will destroy farming industry

Shoreline Beacon, www.shorelinebeacon.com 10 May 2011

Bruce county is made up of all different kinds of farms. We have diary, chicken and horse just to start the list.

The wind turbines are loud, shake the ground, kill birds and bats, point blank ugly and costly. I feel like I am in a Star Wars movie when driving down Bruce Road 20, when all I can see is wind turbines.

People need to consider the whole picture.

The Wind turbines kills birds (sea gulls) who eat garbage and help our environment. Kills bats who eat and control bug/insect populations and help us medically and environmentally. Constantly shake the ground and loud noise scares farm animals, which prevents animals from breeding, causes miscarriages.

If the wind turbines go up our local farmers will have no choice but to sell or kill off all their livestock and sell their farms.

Will this result in hydro and/or government buying up all the farm land so they can put up as many wind turbines as they can?

How will the farmers support their families, when most farmers around here are at least third generation farmers? Farming is what they know best. The farmers will have to find a different career.

Local businesses will go bankrupt because they will mainly have only people that are here to work for hydro or are already hydro employees. The cost of living such as high rental cost (which has already started) and taxes increased.

There will be less bats and birds to help our environment. More bugs/ insects will increase the spread of disease, decreasing the public health, increasing medical cost from the public to the government and decrease the amount of crops to be harvested, which could cause starvation.

Maybe all the farmers can become doctors, nurses, RPNs, or PSWs because we are already short on medical professionals and will need a lot more.

These wind turbines are causing unneeded stress, mental trauma, marital problems and so much more.

I strongly feel that as a 35 year resident of Saugeen Shores, that we have a right to vote if we want or need these wind turbines. If anyone else agrees with me please contact me at cecilandchris@hotmail.com.

I promise to go where needed to protect our farmers.
