Cities are 'perfect places' for wind turbines

Kennebec Journal, www.kjonline.com 1 May 2011

A recent letter to the editor touched on how damaging and out of place giant wind turbines would be to Maine’s mountain ecosystems and wildlife. The letter received a negative comment saying how utterly out of place these blinking, whooshing, towering things would be in a city.

I thought about that. Cities are already noisy, lit up and busy, whereas Maine’s wilderness has a stillness about it, demanding of protection and reverence.

Cities. Perfect places for life beneath industrial wind towers.
