Cartland Muir windfarm turbines 100ft taller than Statue of Liberty

There is a growing revolt among residents living between Lanark and Carluke against the Cartland Muir windfarm plan.

Those opposing the £8 million development of two giant turbines in the countryside near Kilncadzow and Cartland have formed themselves into a pressure group and it is claiming that little, if any, local spin-off benefits will come from the scheme.

However, the developers have responded with an open invitation to the objectors to “take ownership” of the project themselves.

Energy4All’s Scottish representative Paul Phare said that he was “disappointed” to learn that the local group had formed to fight the erection of the turbines which, according to objectors, would be, at 400 feet each, “100 feet taller than the Statue of Liberty”.
