Plans for Green Mountain Power’s proposed wind project in Lowell are being reviewed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The Corps is seeking public comment on the company’s permit to work in waters and wetlands on and around the Lowell ridge line as it puts up 21 turbines and accompanying transmission lines in Jay, Lowell and Westfield.

Making way for the wind farm will include clearing nearly 3 miles of access road to the site and more than four miles of path along the ridge. To compensate, GMP plans to preserve forest land in the area.
