Proposals to put up five wind turbines between Watford, West Haddon and Crick were thrown out by planners on Wednesday night.

Daventry District Council’s planning committee refused permission for Volkswind to put up the 125-metre turbines after agreeing the wind farm would be disruptive, intrusive and oppressively intrusive, particularly for those living nearby and that the potential benefits did not outweigh this.

Councillors also voiced concern that several issues, including transporting turbine parts to the site, were still to be settled and that passing the plans would be equivalent to giving the developer a ‘blank cheque’.

For more on the debate and reaction to the decision, see the Daventry Express on Thursday, April 28.
