Wind turbine plan at stone circle

The Press and Journal, www.pressandjournal.co.uk 20 April 2011The Press and Journal, www.pressandjournal.co.uk 20 April 2011

I read (the Press and Journal, April 16) with interest about the possibility of a wind turbine being erected in the vicinity of Easter Aquhorthies stone circle in beautiful countryside in the heart of the Garioch. To do so would be devastating to this tranquil place.

This ancient historical site is 4,000 years old and is very much visited by people from far and near, also attracting visitors to our spectacular landscapes of the north-east.

There are quite a number of wind turbines in and around our area.

It is clear the Easter Aquhorthies stones have continued to be significant for local people over the years.

The powers that be would not erect these monstrosities at Stonehenge.
