A community meeting for Sand Canyon residents who are opposed to the construction of wind turbines in the canyon is scheduled for April 15, at 7 p.m. at Dr. Beverly Billingsly’s home at 21834 Ferncuko Road (where the big red barn animal hospital is).

Residents of Sand Canyon have been organizing for an aggressive fight against a plan to build 17 to 22 wind turbines of 350 feet in height on 300 acres at the mouth of the canyon.
Taller turbines with a tower height of 750 feet are proposed for Pine Canyon and the ridges above the canyon itself.

There are residences throughout the canyon, as well as Tomo Kahni State Park, Indian burial grounds, a Buddhist temple and Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue.

The organization is called Friends of Sand Canyon and they have a website, http://friendsofsandcanyon.com. For information, call George young at 444-5653, or April Biglay at 810-5357.
