Not all residents happy about wind farm plan

www.sctimes.com 11 April 2011www.sctimes.com 11 April 2011

We live less than one mile from the proposed Black Oak wind farm located in Raymond and Ashley townships near Sauk Centre.

Geronimo Wind officials should be aware there are several residents who do not want a wind farm in our area.

Their statements about the project having a lot of support from local landowners is true in large part because much of the land is owned by absentee landowners.

If all you have to do is collect the payments and not live within the footprint, why not sign? The payments will come to them from us as taxpayers and additional costs added to our electric bills.

The Times April 4 Our View “VA’s turbine makes good case study” suggested we evaluate the effect of the VA’s single turbine on land values, etc. How will an industrial wind farm affect the people, animals and ecosystems living under them?

These are questions we are asking, but unfortunately the answers may come too late for us.
