SOUTH DENNIS – The Dennis Water District Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing Monday on a proposal to install two wind turbines on property off Airline Road.
Members of the public will have an opportunity to ask questions and voice concerns or support for the turbines proposed by the town and the Dennis Water District to reduce energy costs.
The public hearing is being held in advance of the water district’s annual meeting on April 26, when three related proposals will come up for a vote. The proposals would allow the water commission to file special legislation allowing the district to construct the wind turbines and sell excess energy; file special legislation to use water district land for the development of renewable energy; and grant an easement to the town for the construction of a wind turbine on district land.
The municipal turbines would each be 400 feet tall at the top of their blades.
The public hearing is set to begin at 6 p.m. Monday at the Dennis Senior Center on 1045 Route 134.
