CHARLTON – A wind turbine planned for Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School would generate noise well below the state Department of Environmental Protection’s sound impact regulations, the Planning Board was told last night.
“The acoustic study demonstrated that the turbine is below DEP criteria. In general we reviewed it and everything looked good,” a consultant from Vanasse Hangen Brustlin said.
Bay Path proposes to install a 330-foot wind turbine on its hilltop campus. A separate plan by the Overlook Masonic Health Center seeks to place two like turbines behind the public library about one mile away.
Selectmen Tuesday denounced both projects and are asking Overlook and Bay Path officials to table their plans.
Fifty-four properties on Old Worcester Road, Hammer Rock Road, Old Muggett Hill Road and Muggett Hill Road were within the sound study impact zone.
