The plan to build the first windfarm between Lanark and Carluke came under the public spotlight this week.

The Clyde Valley Energy Co-operative plans to erect a two or three turbine mini-farm on Cartland Muir, near Cartland and Kilncadzow.

The developers are hoping to allay worries by opening up the scheme to full public scrutiny.

The first open information day on the plan was held at Carluke’s Lifestyles Centre last Saturday and it is Lanark’s turn on Saturday, April 9 with a display and expert advice available at the Harry Smith Complex between 11am and 4pm.

This week saw the first tangible evidence of what might be to come with the erection of a met mast at the site to calculate wind speeds.
