Brewster residents should vote against Article 5

Attention, Brewster voters: Do you know what is going on in your town?

The Brewster Planning Board, after listening to concerned Brewster residents for countless hours, denied the special permit required by town bylaws to build two 410-foot-tall wind turbines. Since our Brewster selectmen don’t like this decision, they are taking matters into their own hands and have created Article 5 to be voted on at town meeting May 2. It states the town can build a wind turbine of any size in any industrial district.

I urge residents to get out and talk to neighbors. Don’t all residents of Brewster deserve the right to enjoy peace and quiet on our own property? I’ve been talking to my neighbors and we agree the planning board did the right thing by denying the special permit; they listened to both sides and asked questions about the safety, lack of guidelines and lack of concern for the impact this would have on our community.

I think anyone who lives in Brewster would agree; we all love to live in this quiet, quaint little town. Let’s make sure that we support every neighborhood. Please vote no to Article 5 on May 2.
