Brockton has thrown its support behind Arran Elderslie and their fight to have more control over wind turbines.

Council passed a resolution endorsing Arran Elderslie’s decision to impose a freeze on permits for wind turbines until a health study is conducted.

Brockton Mayor Dave Inglis says municipalities need to band together to force wind turbine proponents to work closer with municipalities.

He commends Arran Elderslie for their strong stance on the issue.

Inglis says there are a lot of unanswered questions when it comes to wind turbines especially in the area of health.

He says this is an issue that is hitting close to home for Brockton.

Inglis says there is growing interest by wind turbine companies to locate their towers in Brockton.

Inglis says Brockton wants to ensure land owners are protected and dealt with fairly before signing one of these lease agreements which can span 20 to 40 years.

A public information session on wind turbines is being held Tuesday at 7:30 PM at the Elmwood Community Centre.

It’s being hosted by the Elmwood Chamber of Commerce.

Land owners are encouraged to come out and become informed.

Kincardine Council is also holding a meeting Tuesday about wind turbine development – it begins at 4 PM.
