NEW BRITAIN – The Connecticut Siting Council closed a hearing Thursday on a proposed wind turbine project in Prospect, after rejecting a request for a mistrial on wind projects in Prospect and Colebrook.

The council completed the evidentiary hearing on a plan by BNE Energy Inc. of West Hartford to install two wind turbines at 178 New Haven Road, Prospect. BNE also is proposing to erect six wind turbines on two sites in Colebrook.

Council members have until May 16 to render a decision. Although the hearing is closed, the public can submit comments on the project for 30 days, said Linda Roberts, the council’s executive director.

All testimony will be analyzed by the council staff and put together for a draft findings of fact for the council’s review, Roberts said. A special meeting will be held for that, which will be open to the public, she said.
