Protest on the final furlong

Horse riders near Helmdon were highlighting the adverse affects of wind farm proposals near the village.

Last weekend around 25 riders took part in the protest by following the bridleways and byways adjacent to Spring Farm Ridge, just off the Welsh Lane.

Broadview Energy have proposed a wind farm comprising five turbines measuring 125m from ground to blade tip, 2m short of the Northampton Lift Tower.

With the village of Greatworth only 800m away local people object to the potential visual and noise intrusion.

Fiona Kelly, of the Heldmon, Stuchbury and Greatworth Wind Action Group said the British Horse Society’s guidelines on minimum distances can not be considered when South Northants Council debate the application next month.
