Wind project not fully backed

Colusa County Sun-Herald, www.colusa-sun-herald.com 28 March 2011

This is a response to an article in the Colusa County Sun-Herald in March. The headline read, “Walker Ridge project moves forward.” The second to last paragraph on Page A6 states:

“(Daniel) O’Connell said clean renewable energy has become a priority on a national level, and the project has garnered support from the city and county officials, neighboring landowners and those who use the area for recreation.”

I am a landowner. I also use the area for recreation. I was not informed of any plan prior to March 4, via phone call. I stated at that time I was not supportive of this project. I do not support this project for many reasons! The landowners I am acquainted with and have spoken to also do not support this project. I would list them; however they need to speak for themselves.

I do support renewable/green energy, but not when it encroaches on the quality of human, animal and plant life.

I encourage you to research wind turbines in the United States and Canada. Read what residents that live near these wind farms state. People who have personal wind turbines have made that choice. The turbine(s) are controlled under owner care. This is a different circumstance.

Research what or who will benefit from produced energy on Walker Ridge. Be informed before making a decision on this project for Colusa County and it’s residents.
