Wind farm inquiry holds hearings in Ballarat

ABC News, www.abc.net.au 28 March 2011

A former resident of Waubra, near Ballarat, says he will present evidence to a senate inquiry today that proves a nearby wind farm has made him ill.

The Senate inquiry into the social and economic impact of rural wind farms will hold a hearing in Ballarat today.

As part of the inquiry, Senators will tour a wind farm this morning. The hearings and a public forum will take place this afternoon.

Noel Dean is one of three local residents called to present evidence on illnesses they say were caused by wind farms.

He will provide information from a study, which he paid for.

“The Dean report concludes that people are sick because of the presence of wind turbines,” he said.

“The wind turbines produce infra-sound frequencies in large amounts of sound pressure in the range that make people sick.”
