Wind power ordinance struck down in Sherman

by WABI-TV5 News Desk, www.wabi.tv 22 March 2011

Sherman – A wind power ordinance proposed in Sherman was struck down 44 to 29 during the town’s annual town hall meeting Monday night.

The ordinance would have required turbines to be at least a mile away from any homes.

Town manager Debbie O’Roak says it was modeled after one adopted in Dixmont.

As of now, O’Roak says the town has not been approached by any wind power company, but says some local developers have talked about a potential wind farm project.
