Exhibitions on proposed Airdrie villages windfarm

Community consultations are to be held next week over the possibility of constructing a windfarm on land near the villages of Caldercruix, Greengairs and Plains.

Surrey-based firm Your Energy have outlined an early interest in constructing up to 11 turbines at the site and have submitted a preliminary report to North Lanarkshire Council.

Local residents can learn more about the plans at exhibitions which is being run by the prospective developers in the three villages this week.

More than 3000 households in the surrounding areas have received invitations to the events, which will include an opportunity to find out how to express their views on the application.

Exhibitions will take place next Wednesday, March 30, at Caldercruix community centre from 10am till 12.30pm, and at Greengairs village hall from 7 till 9.30pm.

The following day, March 31, will see the exhibition visit the school hall at the joint campus of St David’s and Plains primaries from 3.30 until 8pm.
