Public invited to see ‘Windfall’ documentary

A hostile, insensitive and uninformed Lee County Board is leaving its tranquil, rural countryside easy prey to commercial wind power giants that have placed commercial wind turbine fields throughout the county’s entire southern border, east to west. Ogle County is next.
I write this letter to all residents of Lee and Ogle counties to invite them to a movie, “Windfall,” an educational and entertaining feature documentary at the Historic Dixon Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Friday and at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free.
“Windfall” is a documentary that tells how a real rural community such as ours struggles with commercial wind energy. The people in the rural county grow increasingly concerned as they discover the impact that the 400-foot-high wind turbines would bring to the tranquil rural environment.
A classic example is near the county line of Lee and Bureau counties where the tiny community of Ohio has found itself in the midst of a giant wind turbine field. The county boards, in both Lee and Bureau, are looking only to the “windfall” of money, having little or no regard for any public input. Ogle County is next.
So attend the documentary “Windfall.” It will be an opportunity to hear both sides of the controversial issues that loom over our rural landscape, and that is exactly what this documentary reveals – both sides of this issue.
It would be a real plus to have all Lee and Ogle county board members attend.
