Dennis selectmen overstep their responsibility

The Register, www.wickedlocal.com

I am both astonished and dismayed that the Dennis selectmen feel that they should have a “right to intervene” in a private business matter – the ARC turbine located on Chapin Beach in Dennis Village.

To use their elected positions to take a side in this business matter is distasteful to me, as a voter.

It appears that the selectmen are over-stepping their positions and will be engaged in the promotion of a private enterprise.

It also appears that they might be using taxpayer dollars to promote their own agenda, which is in support of a wind turbine on Chapin Beach.

I am against public officials over-stepping their elected positions and using taxpayer dollars to promote their own agendas, and this is what this legal action that the selectmen are taking appears to be.

Why should public tax dollars be used to make the town of Dennis an active party in what is clearly a private business matter.

As a private citizen and taxpayer in the town, I question this action by our selectmen. And I seriously look at which ones will get my vote the next election.

Patricia Campbell,

Dennis
