Four months after it approved a large-scale wind farm east of Mountain Home, the Elmore County planning and zoning commission recommended plans to build a smaller alternative energy project in the county.
During a public hearing March 2, the eight-person commission unanimously recommended passage of a combined wind and solar facility located off Canyon Creek Road about five miles north of town.
The project includes building six wind turbines, each capable of generating up to 2.5 megawatts of electricity. Meanwhile, a series of solar panels at the site would collect another five megawatts of power.
