Proposed Dennis turbines will affect Brewster

Cape Cod Times, www.capecodonline.com 6 March 2011

If Dennis voters approve four upcoming articles proposed by the Dennis Water District to develop industrial wind turbines at the May 3 town meeting, Brewster could soon have 400-foot twin towers on the Brewster/Dennis/Harwich line instead of the Brewster/Orleans/Harwich line.

The proposed location is Dennis Water District Article 97 land which is 400 feet from the Brewster town line. (To see the feasibility study and maps go to www.denniswater.org). Brewster officials had previously discussed placing industrial wind turbines near the Orleans/Harwich line that met with protest, and now Dennis officials are seeking to put them near Brewster/Harwich residents.

In this situation, it is the adjacent town residents who cope with the risks. The fate of hundreds of Brewster residents, including children, along Slough Road and roads off of Slough Road lies with the voters of Dennis. Many of these homes are less than 1,700 feet from the proposed turbines.

There are much better and safer alternatives for energy, primarily solar. Dennis voters, please vote against these articles for your neighbors who would do the same for you.
