RSPB object to windfarm plan

The Scotsman, scotsman.com 3 March 2011

RSPB Scotland has objected to a planned 31-turbine wind farm close to a major nature reserve in the Highlands.

The site at Strathy North in Sutherland is bounded on three sides by the Caithness and Sutherland Peatlands Special Area of Conservation and Special Protection Area and is close to the charity’s largest UK landholding at Forsinard Flows Nature Reserve.

RSPB regional director George Campbell said: “We are seriously concerned about this proposal. Windfarms must be of the right scale and in the right places, not where they damage the very natural environment they are supposed to be protecting.”
