Re: “Take a leap of faith and ride the wind” (Feb. 18): Take a leap of faith? What is the point of having Public Service Board hearings if in the end everyone ignores the evidence and the scientific testimony, and takes a leap of faith? It’s painfully clear that that’s what everyone is doing already, from the governor, to the Public Service Board, to the born-again ANR, to the selectmen in Lowell somehow convinced that once the turbines are up, “nobody will even notice.”
Instead of a leap of faith, why not take meticulous steps forward, made only after carefully considered empirical and scientific evidence? Or better still, why not a moratorium on wind development until the impacts in doomed Sheffield, Sutton and Barton can be known?
Oh, I forgot, there’s that timetable with all those federal tax credits at risk. Sorry, gotta leap.
