AM’s delight at turbines refusal

The decision to turn down plans for 19 wind turbines near Felindre has been welcomed by Gower AM Edwina Hart.

Environment, Sustainability and Housing Minister Jane Davidson this week rejected an application by RWE npower renewables to place the turbines at Mynydd y Gwair, because of the potential harm it would cause to the local peat habitat.

Mrs Hart said: “I am delighted at the decision. Mynydd y Gwair is outside the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, but this area includes some spectacular and much loved landscapes. The siting of the turbines, together with the associated ancillary work to access the site, would have had a very damaging impact on the natural environment. I applaud all those who have acted to protect Mynydd y Gwair for their hard work and dedication.”
