Stop this destructive project

Dear Governor Shumlin and Deborah Markowitz and members of the Public Service Board, and dear Chronicle and Stowe Reporter,
I am a Progressive and Democrat; I have a good sense of community and the public good. No, Governor Shumlin, I respectfully suggest you do NOT get it. If the Public Service Board gives a permit in Lowell I honestly think that is a corrupt idea of the public good. The environmental footprint is too big. We need conservation, efficiency, solar, stewardship of the land and not to blast the top off mountains in the poor and small towns – for naught – well, for money I guess, it is the investors in France’s money. Do you know that how much the carbon is reduced is very small. Ask your pro wind friends. Solar collectors get us off dependency on oil, especially if they are on people’s roofs.
For GMP this wind power plant might be the cheapest and quickest way to get more power, (not needed at the moment). I heard the Green Mountain executives say so, but not for the citizens in the state of Vermont. I think the loss to this state in property values, in natural habitat, and in the attitude of the state towards stewardship of its land will be at least equal to the $150 million spent in building Lowell Wind. I
think the town was bribed and that people will think of it as a mistake after it is up, if it is built.
I am glad the ANR used science to come to their conclusions. Please withdraw your “deal” talk. Stop this destructive project.
Please reconsider.
