Windfarm density

The Press and Journal, www.pressandjournal.co.uk

Alarmingly, we are again being subjected to thoroughly disingenuous propaganda by the advocates of windfarms.

I quote from the Press and Journal of February 19: “Jim McLaren (retiring Scottish NFU president) . . . dismissed criticisms that Scotland could be scarred by wind turbines . . .”

His argument in support of this claim is that “The UK has only one turbine per 100 square kilometers of land . . .”

Probably so for the whole of the UK. He completely fails to mention that if, heaven forfend, just the current crop of windfarm applications is approved, the turbine density in Aberdeenshire alone will be something like 15 large turbines per 100 square kilometres. This is three times the density allowed in Germany or Holland and five times that in Spain, Portugal and Ireland.
