County planners have opposed proposals for a wind farm at Asfordby.
The county council’s development control and regulatory board says plans for nine turbines at the old Asfordby mine should be rejected.
Developer Peel Energy says the turbines, which would be up to 125m (410ft) high, would produce enough energy to supply electricity to 8,500 homes – a third of households in the Melton borough.
The committee followed advice from its officers to recommend Melton Borough Council throws out the plans.
