Council’s objections to wind turbine revealed

A parish council has revealed the details of its objections to controversial plans to build a 150ft wind turbine.

Anslow Parish Council discussed FG Thompstone’s application to build a 225KwH triple-blade turbine on land he owns, in order to power a 36,000-hen business at its February meeting.

The parish council has now submitted its official stance to East Staffordshire Borough Council.

In terms of neighbouring properties and businesses, the parish council said that there would be visual and background noise intrusion caused by the constant movement of the blades and turbine machinery throughout the day and night.

A potential for long-term health issues was also raised.

It also highlighted the risk to the future livelihood of neighbouring businesses due to any impact on their livestock and consequently the future livelihood of those residents.

The report to the borough council stated: “There are a number of properties and businesses in the immediate vicinity of the proposed installation and we are extremely concerned for the Lount Farm and Hilltop complexes which contain both domestic properties and various businesses, all of which could be seriously affected.

“We are concerned about the potential impact on animals (especially horses and cats) at businesses in these two locations which may adversely affect the future livelihood of those residents.

“We are also worried about the longterm health issues for these two complexes and other neighbouring properties and the possibility of flicker/strobe effect from the sun and floodlights from the Belmont golf course.”

They also argued that in terms of the village and parish there would be a detrimental impact on the village landscape and wildlife as well as potential long-term health issues.

This comes after almost 100 people attended the village to discuss the proposal at a meeting organised by the parish council and chaired by parish council chairman John Lanham.

Some of the planning documents were also on display for residents.
