Forests or wind farms?

The proposed sell-off of forests in England is producing huge protests and concern. Meanwhile, Forestry Commission Wales has been planning for years to allow publicly owned Forestry land to be desecrated by mainly foreign wind farm developers. These firms will cut down millions of trees to make space for wind farms. Who cares in Wales? We certainly do in Glyncorrwg.
The Pen y Cymoedd wind farm is proposed for Forestry land where 79 turbines, each 475ft high, will replace between half a million and one million trees and destroy thousands of tons of peat on the beautiful hills around Glyncorrwg.
One Welsh MP has been quoted as saying “the national forest is one of our greatest assets”, while one AM said “Welsh woodlands are a vital part of the beautiful natural environment of Wales”. Residents of Glyncorrwg agree.
On January 11 Neath Port Talbot Council voted by 17 votes to 15 not to object to the Pen y Cymoedd proposal . Who cares about us who live here? If you do, please write to your AM and MP and support the village of Glyncorrwg.
