Stamp Farm turbine height lowered

Andy Smith The Providence Journal, www.projo.com 3 February 2011

NORTH KINGSTOWN – Wind Energy Development LLC, developer of a wind turbine proposed for Stamp Farm on Route 2, has reduced the height of the turbine from 427 feet to no more than 389 feet. The turbine would also generate less power, down from 1.8 megawatts to 1.5 megawatts.

The Stamp Farm turbine proposal has been highly controversial in North Kingstown. Rejected by the town’s Zoning Board of Review, the turbine application is now before the North Kingstown Planning Commission after the town adopted a new wind-energy ordinance.

David Darlington, spokesman for Wind Energy Development, said owner Mark DePasquale was responding to some of the objections raised by area property owners by changing his plan to use a smaller turbine.
