In her Jan. 26 commentary, “Turbines make good neighbors,” Liz Argo claims the 328-foot-tall turbine built in 2006 in the town of Hull has not produced complaints “about sound or any other aspect relative to the turbine.”
That is not true; there are, in fact, complaints. One Hull resident describes the shadow flicker from the turbine as intrusive, and says people who live less than a half-mile away are subjected to noise impacts that should not have been imposed upon them. Another resident living 1,507 feet from the turbine is on record stating, “I have to confess it does keep me awake sometimes at night – it’s a sort of swish sound … I shut the window or I turn the fan on so I don’t hear it … maybe once a week I wig out a little bit when trying to get to sleep.”
Rather than being good neighbors, wind turbines appear to more closely resemble the noisy neighbors.
