HARTFORD – The state legislature’s energy and technology committee has scheduled a hearing for 2 p.m. Thursday on bills to establish a moratorium on large wind turbine projects until regulations to oversee such projects are established.
The hearing comes at a time when West Hartford-BNE Energy Inc. has two proposals one in Colebrook and one in Prospect to build 1.6-megawatt wind turbines before the Connecticut Siting Council.
The proposals have generated protests from residents in both towns that the 328-foot high turbines would impact their property values and quality of life.
The hearing is to be held in hearing room 1E of the Legislative Office Building in downtown Hartford. The bills were introduced by Rep. Vickie O. Nardello, D-Prospect, and Sen. Joan V. Hartley, D-15th District.
