FAA reveals error

HARWICH – The Federal Aviation Administration has notified the town in a letter dated Jan. 6 that a decision it made in 2008 that wind turbines in North Harwich would not impede with the Chatham airport was incorrect. That 2008 determination aided the town in proposing a pair of 400-foot tall turbines on the north side of town, which were ultimately rejected by voters.

“The decision is based upon new facts that change the basis on which the original determination was made,” the FAA wrote. This new determination could limit any future tall turbines in town.
