OAKLAND – Should House Bill 116 pass the Maryland General Assembly and be graced with ink from the governor’s pen, Garrett County will take control over the construction and demolition of wind turbines within its borders.
“Because there is no zoning in Garrett County, wind turbines can theoretically be built right next to a neighboring property,” said Delegate Wendell Beitzel, the bill’s sponsor, on Tuesday.
Garrett County, with a whole new set of commissioners, continues to seek control as did the previous elected board.
