Wind farm plans are thrown out

Plans for a wind farm on the former Kimbolton airfield have been unanimously rejected by council planners.

Broadview Energy wanted to put up four 125m turbines near the Bicton and Harvard Way business areas, between Kimbolton and Stow Longa, but council planners voted to reject the proposal at Huntingdonshire District Council’s (HDC) development management panel on Monday night.

The panel rejected the scheme on the grounds it contravened local and national planning policy and damaged the cultural heritage of the area.

It was also noted Broadview failed to provide requested photomontages and there were concerns the company used strategically placed trees, bushes and viewing angles in their plans to minimise the impact of the development.

Campaign group Stop Bicton Wind Farm – which handed a 65,000-word document opposing the plan to HDC – was delighted.
