Litchfield wind farm anything but productive

We all choose to live where we live for reasons that mean something to us. Are those reasons dismissible?
We live about a mile from the proposed Dry Hill industrial wind farm in the town of Litchfield. We have great views and peace and quiet. We have done our homework, and we know that this project is not green.
The 492-foot-high turbines and blades will be manufactured in China. They will be noisy. They will offer almost no financial benefit to our school district or town. They will actually cause our electric rates to go up. Local real estate experts have told us that property values in our neighborhood will likely be reduced by 40 percent. This reduction in value will reduce assessments for taxes.
As our tax base is reduced, our schools and town will be under-funded, making our property even less desirable. If this project is approved, residents of our town who live further away will not be safe from future industrial wind farms in their backyards too. State law allows additional new wind turbine projects can be built in our town under the terms of the initial project approval.
Every citizen of our town who doesn’t want an industrial wind farm in their backyard must advise our Town Board to ban wind farms to protect everything they value about their way of life.
