Wind farm appeal thrown out – victory for campaigners

Campaigners in the East Riding are celebrating after an appeal to build a three-turbine wind farm in Roos was dismissed.

Energie Kontor appealed against East Riding Council’s decision to reject its application for the development at Hogsea Lane.

During a public inquiry in November, residents in the area argued the cumulative impact would be devastating.

They claimed there would be a 360 degree view of wind farms, taking into account the other developments already granted approval.

Campaigner Dr Brian Wells said: “It was a fair hearing.

“We always felt we had a good case, particularly as we have so many wind farms in the area.”

In dismissing the appeal, planning inspector Andrew Pykett said: “I have concluded that the proposal would increase the numbers of turbines and wind farms in the area to an extent where the resultant harm would outweigh the presumption if favour of such schemes.”
