Windfarm opposition group

Lincolnshire Echo, www.thisislincolnshire.co.uk 23 December 2010

Around 85 villagers have formed an opposition group over plans to build three wind turbines.

Residents in Beckingham, near Sleaford, met on Monday to drum up support for a group which could formally oppose plans to create three 90m-high turbines at a local farm. As previously reported in the Echo, egg producer Nobel Foods wants to put up the turbines at its site at Lodge Farm, where the company houses 50,000 chickens.

The turbines will provide enough energy for more than 2,000 homes, the firm said. Wind Direct is drawing up the plans.

Villager James Finch, who first contacted the Echo about the plans, said the meeting went well. “We have formed an action group, setting up a website,” he said. “And we have had contact with our MP and our MEPs.”
