RSPB raises turbine concerns in letter

By James Franklin, Reporter, Weston Mercury, www.thewestonmercury.co.uk 21 December 2010

A national wildlife charity has written a letter of objection to the planning application handed in by an energy company to build wind turbines near a Somerset village.

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) has written the objection about the developments proposed by Ecotricity near Poplar Farm in West Huntspill.

In the letter, the RSPB say that the blades of the proposed wind turbines, which would be spread across a half mile area, could be dangerous to flocks of birds flying between the Severn Estuary Special Protection Area and the Somerset Levels and Moors Special Protection Area.
